Made for More Than Just Wading
For Surfers, DragonSkin® booties offer stingray protection without sacrificing comfort or board feel. The flexible neoprene design allows for good ankle mobility while the grippy silicone print makes sure you don't slide around on your board.
For kiteboarders, DragonSkin® booties fit under your foot straps (although the pads may need to be removed in some cases). The flexible neoprene allows ankle mobility, and the grippy silicone print provides secure traction while still allowing easy foot repositioning.
For swimmers, DragonSkin® booties allow good ankle mobility to facilitate kicking. We recommend swimmers go one size down to minimize drag. They are also compatible with fins, although you may have to go one fin size up to allow room for the thickness of the booties underneath.
For Snorkelers, DragonSkin® booties are compatible with fins, although you may have to go one fin size up to allow room for the thickness of the booties underneath.
For Stand-Up Paddleboarders, DragonSkin® booties offer stingray protection without sacrificing comfort or board feel. The flexible neoprene design allows for good ankle mobility while the grippy silicone print makes sure you don't slide around on your board.
For Foilers, DragonSkin® booties offer stingray protection without sacrificing comfort or board feel. The flexible neoprene design allows for good ankle mobility while the grippy silicone print makes sure you don't slide around on your board.
For Boogie Boarders, DragonSkin® booties are compatible with fins, although you may have to go one fin size up to allow room for the thickness of the booties underneath.
Why Should I Care About Stingrays?
Great question! Many surfers and regular beachgoers are familiar with the “stingray shuffle,” the technique of shuffling your feet and disturbing the sand as you make your way into the water. This can scare off stingrays and reduce the chances of being stung, but it isn't foolproof, as many who have been stung while shuffling can attest to.
At DragonSkin, we aren’t in the business of fear-mongering, but we are here for public safety. We estimate that over 10,000 stingray injuries occur every summer in SoCal alone. This compared to about one shark attack. You’re about 10,000 times more likely to be stung by a stingray than attacked by a shark.
At a minimum, a stingray injury will produce excruciating pain, but some will require more intensive treatment. It’s our mission to bring peace of mind back to your beach day so you can surf, swim, boogie-board, paddleboard, or simply enjoy your time in the water without fear.
