so far so good, only because I have not been stung. Is there a way to tell left from right on both the boot and the insert?

Hi Mike, glad to hear that they're working out for you so far! The way to tell apart left and right is that the size label is printed on the inner ankle of each sock. So the left foot will have it printed on the inner right, and the right foot will have it printed on the inner left. Let me know if that helps!

I originally ordered womens small

I originally ordered womens small. I wear size 8. My first time out, I kept catching my toes of my front foot on my board. So I drove over to PB surf shop and exchanged them for extra small. The first time I wore them I got hung up a little, but not as bad. I decided that I needed to lift my front foot up a bit higher when popping up to avoid catching my front foot. I did better the next time. There may be a bit of a learning curve for me. I’m happy to have discovered the booties, I have been an expert on obtaining sting ray bites and I’m now more relaxed in the water.

After recently being stung by a stingray which resulted in 3 days in the hospital, protecting my feet while standing in the surf fishing is now a priority.

Great Boots, Would buy again

Great boots, comfortable and fit well. Definitely feel much more at ease surfing at the beach while wearing them knowing I’m more protected from a sting. Bottom grip on the surfboard could be a bit better I think. Velcro strap could also be a bit better but zipper is nice and keeps the boot snug.

Good quality

I’m a surfer in San Diego and I’ve worn these about 5 times at my local beach breaks that have a ton of stingrays. They do not impact my surfing any more than normal booties would and they seem to be good quality. I hope to never put them to the real test of blocking a stingray barb, but I plan on submitting updated feedback when that happens. I totally recommend everyone buy them, not only because they’re good quality but also because I would rather not be the only kook wearing booties in the middle of summer!

FAQ

Do you Offer Children's Sizes?

We offer Youth Sizes from 1.5-6.5Y. We currently don't offer Children's sizes below that, but we're working on it! If you're interested in smaller sizes, let us know at info@mydragonskin.com

Can I Wear the Booties with Fins?

In total, the booties are about 8mm (or about .3 inches) thick. The neoprene in the booties also does compress when worn with a fin. As long as you have about a quarter of an inch space of slack between your feet and the fins, you should be good!

Can I Use the Booties for Fishing?

Yes, you can use the booties to fish if it is a relatively sandy wading area. If the area is rocky though, we don't recommend using the booties since the soles are neoprene with a silicone pattern print.
