Size Size chart
  • Please do not walk on concrete or rocks with Dragon Skin booties—wait to get on the sand before putting them on
  • Hand-rinse booties; air dry
  • Avoid storing the booties in the sun

*we can’t guarantee coverage on an individual foot, but from our testing, we estimate that stingray-resistant materials cover 85% of a typical bootie.

Great product! Perfectly designed to work!

Great product! Perfectly designed to work. Before DragonSkin I've been stung 8 times in depths from 1-4 feet being extremely careful to shuffle both surfing and bodysurfing, but subject to conditions that negate all precaution: large swells; uneven bottom surfaces with potholes due to passing storms; etc. No worries with DragonSkin.

A single booty variant would be optimal

A single booty variant would be optimal.

Hi Kenneth, thank you for the feedback! We initially experimented with a single-layer design but unfortunately ran into the limitation that puncture-resistant material generally isn't stretchy, and when we covered the whole bootie with this protective material, it was extremely difficult to get on, didn't conform well to the foot, caused a lot of drag in the water, etc. That's why we decided to go with the two-layered design where each layer can have a mix of puncture resistant material and stretchy material. That being said, we totally agree that a one-layered design would be much better if we can ever figure out how to get around the limitations! We'll keep your feedback in mind, and keep you posted if we come out with one.

so far so good

so far so good, only because I have not been stung. Is there a way to tell left from right on both the boot and the insert?

Hi Mike, glad to hear that they're working out for you so far! The way to tell apart left and right is that the size label is printed on the inner ankle of each sock. So the left foot will have it printed on the inner right, and the right foot will have it printed on the inner left. Let me know if that helps!

I originally ordered womens small

I originally ordered womens small. I wear size 8. My first time out, I kept catching my toes of my front foot on my board. So I drove over to PB surf shop and exchanged them for extra small. The first time I wore them I got hung up a little, but not as bad. I decided that I needed to lift my front foot up a bit higher when popping up to avoid catching my front foot. I did better the next time. There may be a bit of a learning curve for me. I’m happy to have discovered the booties, I have been an expert on obtaining sting ray bites and I’m now more relaxed in the water.

After recently being stung by a stingray which resulted in 3 days in the hospital, protecting my feet while standing in the surf fishing is now a priority.

FAQ

Do you Offer Children's Sizes?

We offer Youth Sizes from 1.5-6.5Y. We currently don't offer Children's sizes below that, but we're working on it! If you're interested in smaller sizes, let us know at info@mydragonskin.com

Can I Wear the Booties with Fins?

In total, the booties are about 8mm (or about .3 inches) thick. The neoprene in the booties also does compress when worn with a fin. As long as you have about a quarter of an inch space of slack between your feet and the fins, you should be good!

Can I Use the Booties for Fishing?

Yes, you can use the booties to fish if it is a relatively sandy wading area. If the area is rocky though, we don't recommend using the booties since the soles are neoprene with a silicone pattern print.
